A website is not necessarily a collection of graphic images and text placed upon the screen in a pleasing manner. It’s what is going on behind the scenes that can truly make a site powerful. Today, more and more websites provide a level of interactivity to the user, allowing them perform tasks and access data that the typical static site could never provide.

Client-side Programming

Client-side programming technologies such as JavaScript allow interactive elements to run within a user’s web browser. This is useful for such things as image rollover menus used in site navigation as well as for performing data validation of web forms before submitting a page to the server for additional processing.

Server-side Programming

From simple guest books and email forms to E-Commerce applications and back-end database connections that can serve up a wealth of information, server-side programming techniques provide the ability to interact with your users in a variety of ways.

As opposed to running small programs within the user’s browser, server-side programming applications reside on the web server and are accessed after a page has been submitted. With a variety of server-side technologies available, applications can be written to access all types of data which may be stored in multiple locations.
